Why We Involve the Children
Despite their interest in caring for the environment, children often lack opportunities and support to demonstrate their commitment, so we aim to provide those opportunities.
Why we involve the Children
The best long-term outcomes are achieved by instilling positive values in childhood, values like respect, responsibility, discipline and hardwork. Children, regardless of background, can actively contribute to addressing societal challenges; they are not mere bystanders but part of the solution. The earlier they get involved, the better.
In parts of the world where children are faced with great adversity, it is essential to expose them to positive aspects and opportunities in their childhood as a way of giving them hope. Despite their interest in caring for the environment, children often lack opportunities and support to demonstrate their commitment, so we aim to provide those opportunities. Many poor families we speak to appreciate help but desire opportunities for meaningful collaboration rather than just being recipients of charity. There is a genuine love for children at the core of our mission.

How children take the lead
Adults set up the conditions. Students run the work.
Form a Tree Club
Students elect leaders and agree on watering and nursery roles.
Build the nursery
They pot seedlings, label species, and track germination.
Plant with purpose
Planting days are student-led, with maps of where each tree goes.
Monitor & share
Clubs measure growth, report losses, and present to the school.
Safe, age-appropriate involvement
Children work under teacher supervision. Tasks match age and ability. We never treat students as free labour for adult campaigns—we design activities so learning and wellbeing come first, with clear safeguarding expectations for every partner school.
Bring Tree Clubs to your school
If you are a teacher, parent, or partner organisation, we can help you start—with kits, training, and ongoing support.
